-Enjoins party members to accept party’s decision
The Executive Chairman, Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, has endorsed the candidature of Prince Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan as the candidate of the All Progress Congress (APC), for Ikorodu Constituency I.
Hon. Sulaimon, who is one of the ardent supporters of the incumbent Ikorodu Constituency 1 representative in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbolahan Ogunleye, whom Bolowotan challenged in the last APC primary election, also enjoined party members to accept the decision of the party and support Bolowotan.
He did not just pronounce his endorsement, but also openly raised Bolowotan’s hand up in victory to the cheers of the large crowd at the event.
The council chairman, who made the declaration on Saturday at the food distribution programme of the Council Leader, Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Jessica Enitan Oba, tagged, “Love Ipakodo Food Initiative” held at LG Primary School, Ipakodo.
“I will not run away from reality today. You all know where I belong but believe it or not, I belong to Ikorodu. I don’t belong to anybody and as an individual, I will always do the needful and the needful today is to acknowledge and give honour to whom it is due.
“Whether we want it or not, we must accept and support whomever that the party has endorsed and there is nobody that I cannot support and our party has presented Bolowotan to us and that is who we are going to work and vote for.
“I have accepted the decision of our party. Our party has spoken and we have all accepted. During my own time, the party spoke and you accepted,” Hon. Sulaimon emphasised.
The Ikorodu West council boss who also said he was speaking on behalf of the apex APC leader in Ikorodu Division and GAC chieftain, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, stressed the need for unity within the party and urged for support for all the party’s candidates in the coming general elections.
“I don’t have any other party except the APC and I know that our leader Baba Ogunleye does not have another party either. I am speaking on behalf of Baba Ogunleye and emphasising that this is whom our party has endorsed.
“We should not be talking about who is our party candidate again today, rather, we should be mindful that we are going to mobilise votes for all our candidates in the coming general elections. We need more votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We cannot afford to lose the Presidential election, so also, the Governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives and Assembly elections. APC all the way. Another time is coming that it will be the turn of somebody else, but today, it is the turn of Bolowotan.”
Hon. Sulaimon reiterated his support for Bolowotan as the candidate of Ikorodu Constituency I, stating that:
“When it was my turn, it wasn’t that the other aspirant cannot do what I am capable of doing and the same goes to Bolowotan. It’s not that Gbolahan is a bad representative but it is our party’s decisions. It is only the party that can endorse a candidate.
“There is no longer enmity among us, and we are all supporting Bolowotan. He is also Baba Ogunleye’s son and he respects our leader a lot.”
